Express Entry has three programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Candidates who meet the basic requirements of each program can enter the candidate pool and wait for an invitation to apply for permanent residency. The invitation is issued based on candidates’ Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores and programs.
Applicant will be able to obtain Canadian permanent resident status in approximately 6 months after submitting the application.
Candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker program must score at least 67 points out of 100 in the six selection factors to be eligible to enter the Express Entry pool.
Minimum requirements:
Education: at least high school.
Have at least 1 year of continuous work (or 1,560 hours) of relevant work experience.
Language ability:
at least 6.0 in each ability in the IELTS General Training test or equivalent scores in CELPIP, PTE Core, and French tests (TEF Canada, TCF Canada).
Applicants with at least one year of Canadian work experience can enter the Express Entry pool once all requirements are met.
Minimum requirements:
Have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in the past 3 years.
Language ability:
TEER 0 and 1 work:
at least 6.0 in each ability in the IELTS General Training test or equivalent scores in CELPIP, and French tests.
TEER 2 and 3 work:
at least 4.0 in reading and 5.0 in other abilities in the IELTS General Training test or equivalent scores in CELPIP, and French tests.
Once all requirements are met, applicants with skilled trades work experience, such as aircraft assemblers and chefs, can enter the Express Entry pool.
Minimum requirements:
Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the past 5 years.
Language ability:
at least 3.5 in reading, 4.0 in writing, and 5.0 in listening and speaking in the IELTS General Training test or equivalent scores in CELPIP, and French tests.
Have a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year, or a certificate of qualification in your skilled trade issued by Canadian authorities.
Except for Nunavut and Quebec, each province has its own Provincial Nominee Program with various programs and requirements. Quebec has a system similar to PNP but does not fall under the PNP class. For example, BC PNP has programs such as Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and International Post-Graduate.
The family sponsorship program is available to Canadian permanent residents or citizens applying to bring their family members, including their parents, grandparents, spouses, and dependent children, to Canada for reunification.
Minimum requirements:
The sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
The sponsor must be at least 18 years old.
The sponsor provides for the basic needs of any persons you want to sponsor.
The Self-employed Persons Program is designed for persons with extraordinary abilities in cultural activities or athletics who can be self-employed.
Minimum requirements:
Have at least two years of relevant experience in the past 5 years, including being self-employed or participating at a world-class level in cultural activities, athletics, or a combination of them.
Achieve a score of at least 35 points out of 100 in the selection factors.
